[Imagefest] Kenny's Box Canyon part whatever we're at

Been quite a while since I did one of these! But today I collected a whole two boxes!

What might be in them?

Most important tool, etc. Anyway, let's start with the big box.

066.jpg

It's well packed!

067.jpg

Looks like some video game stuff!

068.jpg

An Xbox 360 controller, an Xbox 360 game, and an Xbox 360 power brick!

But there's still one more thing in here, and it's the biggest part! Can you guess what it is?

070.jpg

That's right, it's an Xbox 360!

071.jpg

Specifically, it's a pre-modded Xbox 360 Slim with a 500 GB HDD. My current Xbox 360, that I bought at a thrift store after my first Xbox 360 stopped being able to read discs, stopped being able to read discs. Swapping out the laser would have cost like $70, and since I was two for two on Xbox 360 losing their disc reading capabilities, I figured trying to find a new cheap one of those was only going to be a temporary solution. With a modded one, that's not going to be an issue, and in total, including shipping, it cost me just a little over $100.

Let's move on to the small box. It's well packed too!

Very well packed!

And it is an Xbox 360 Hard Drive Transfer Cable! See, this new one's a Slim, but my original and its replacement were both the fat model, and I got a 250 GB HDD for that that I want to transfer som stuff from. It's mostly profiles and saved games I care about, but I'll probably transfer over all my XBLA and XBLIG games too so I don't have to reinstall all of those.

I haven't actually hooked this thing up yet, and I've also ordered some additional HDMI cables, as it turned out that I did not have many of these. Since it's my birthday next week, this is what I'm considering my birthday gift to myself

What all are you playing on the 360? I think I recall hearing they had a lot of shmups on XBLA or something like that, so maybe it's that.

Xbox is pretty good about backwards compatibility as well for digital games. I've got a Series S and used it for Lost Odyssey, a 360 game. I should get back to that game sometime...

Shmups indeed. It's what I got my initial Xbox 360 for in the first place. Since I could still have played XBLA and XBLIG stuff, it's the games that were on disc I truly got the new machine for, especially the Cave ports—Mushihimesama Futari, basically my favourite game of all time, got a region-free X360 port, but has never been ported to anything else (unless you count iOS, but I think some of Cave's older mobile ports don't work anymore or something anyway).

Today I actually got around to plugging it in (would have been earlier if I hadn't taken extra work shifts both Friday and Saturday and also had more HDMI cables because the only one I have not occupied with my computer screens at the moment is the Switch one, so it would be a bother swapping back and forth, but my two new ones should come tomorrow), and am currently in the process of transfering stuff over with the cable.

This week I got three packages!

075.jpg

A big one! A smaller one! And a middle-sized one! What is this... Goldilocks?????

076.jpg

The big one holds... you should be able to see it...

077.jpg

A Video's Games machinery! H*ck yeah!

078.jpg

And the smaller packages had these things! And it actually turned out to be a very good thing that there were two screen protectors in that pack because there was a hiccup in the application of the first one, but it worked out fine on the second try. I did get a small air pocket in the corner, hopefully I can get that fixed which might happen by just running the console for a while so it gets warm, though I practically never use my Switch undocked so it's mostly for protection in the dock. Really I found there to be no reason to not get a screen protector.

Haven't gotten a mSD card or carrying case for it yet, those will come later. The former sooner than the latter.
